Arranging your Kitchen Appliances with Style

Make mealtimes much easier, by using creative ways to maximise your space. The position of your appliances is more important than you’d think. So when it comes to designing your kitchen, give the appliances some thought. Not sure where to start? That’s where we come in. At  Torbitt’s, we know kitchen design inside out, back to front. So keep reading to hear our take on arranging your kitchen appliances with style.

Conceal the cooker hood

It’s ugly and it’s in a prime position to bump your head on. A no brainer – conceal it. Try hiding it above the cooker in an alcove. Not only will the area look cleaner, it will be safer and save a lot of space, so great for small kitchens. This also means more focus can be given to other design elements in the room.

Be Sociable

Keeping the appliances near to the seating area is a great way to be part of the conversation when you are cooking. An island in the centre, complete with a sink and seating around it, is the perfect way to keep the kitchen sociable. Adding a TV, casual seating and some cosy features is the perfect way to keep your kitchen sociable.

Keep your appliances off the floor

Ever thought of raising your dishwasher off the floor? Save your back by stationing it a bit higher! Think about the other appliances. You don’t want your cupboards or microwave too high or low, or you’ll struggle with lifting things to and fro.

Wet appliances go together

Keep this in mind as a general rule of thumb. When having your kitchen fitted, it is a lot easier for the sink, tumble dryer and washing machine all on one wall. If there are any plumbing issues in the future, it’ll be easier too.

Make the cooker a focal point

If you can, make the cooker the focal point. After all, the kitchen is there to be cooked in, first and foremost. Have everything centred around it and you can’t go far wrong.

There is a lot to bear in mind when designing and fitting out your kitchen. You don’t want to make a mistake and cost yourself a lot of money and regret. At the end of the day, you want your kitchen to reflect your personal style, and  be very functional. Keep our points for arranging your kitchen appliances with style in mind, and your space will be a success!
