Kitchen style

After a year where everyone spent much of their time locked up at home, many people are now reconsidering the purpose of their kitchen and with that, the kitchen style. The pandemic changed the way we entertain, cook and relax. The kitchen has become the centre stage for many people’s homes so the kitchen style is now even more important. We are more than excited to see all the different styles our team will create for our customers.

See which styles and features have been trending this year:

ORGANIC STYLE

This is a style that celebrates the versatility of materials that are natural, organic inspired (wood-looking, for example) and environmentally conscious. Energy Efficient lighting and repurposed countertops have become a popular feature of many Northern Ireland kitchens this year as consumers have become more sustainable in their purchasing habits. Grooved wooden cabinetry has become increasingly popular also allowing for a more retro look throughout kitchens. This style has the same clean lines as contemporary and transitional kitchens, but with a look built on the warmth and textures of natural materials.

TOUCHLESS FAUCETS

Of course, hygiene and cleanliness will be a top priority for many style ideas this year. The heightened awareness of hygiene at home and growing demand for ‘hands free’ functionality has led to an increase in demand for touchless kitchen faucets. Even voice activated faucets have become popular this year. Through simple commands, you can turn the water on to wash your hands or dispense the exact amount you need for pasta or soup. A select matte or brushed finish is recommended to allow for a low-maintenance upgrade.

INCREASED STORAGE

Covid-19 sparked the wave of home baking with everyone trying to give Mary Berry a run for her money. This meant all the ‘at-home chefs’ purchased new utensils, small appliances and more ingredients. Now, kitchen storage is feeling the strain. The main kitchen storage area that has become hugely popular are pantries.

Pantries have taken off in recent times due to the minimal approach to kitchens. This means counter space has become a precious commodity. Even more surprisingly, secret hideaway bars with perfectly designated spots for glasses and bottles are the latest inclusion to pantries. Dedicated pantries, enhanced cabinetry solutions like larder cupboards and an abundance of kitchen organizers have all become the norm in 2021 kitchens. Thankfully, Torbitts has you covered as we provide clever and convenient internal storage solutions, ranging from cutlery inserts and spice drawers to larger pantry units and larders.
