2021 Resolutions at Home

It’s a brand new year, and we have really high hopes for 2021! Here at Torbitts, we know lots of people are working from home, so the resolutions this year might have gone to the wayside. No need to panic – we have a few resolutions that will keep you busy and transform your home, making it a nicer, more comfortable place to spend the majority of your time. Here are our 2021 Resolutions at Home.

Make your bedroom cosier

Your bedroom is your sanctuary, where you head after a long day and completely switch off. So, you want it to be a nice space, right? Try adding pillows and a rug. Make sure these are in calming, neutral colours. Create ambience with lighting, and add touches of wood – for example a wooden dresser! Your room will go from dull to inviting in no time.

Dedicated work space

If you’re working from home, perhaps you’ve been using the kitchen table, working/homeschooling alongside your kids. Maybe you’ve opted for the bed-office until now, but you’re noticing that this may not be so productive. Choosing a dedicated workspace and sticking to it is half the battle. If you can find a desk and a chair, set it up and get started.

Get rid of clutter

From the build up of post, to the books you read 5 years ago and will never read again, to the kids toys strewn everywhere, sometimes it’s good to declutter. Get rid of things you don’t want or need anymore and watch your home become a peaceful, open sanctuary! Remember – a cluttered home is a cluttered mind!

New Kitchen Trends

Is 2021 your year for updating your kitchen? The extended amount of time spent at home perhaps has made you familiar with every nook, cranny, crack and crevice in the house and you’re ready for a change? It’s good to stay up to date with the trends. Here at Torbitts, we offer a design consultation to completion service, so we will be with you the whole time. Here are some up and coming trends this year:

Marble: If you love a bit of luxury and want to brighten your kitchen, opt for marble. The darker veined the better, marble can transform a room. It’s making a big comeback, so watch out.

Pop of colour: Bright colours can brighten your mood, so why not consider a new lick of paint across the cupboards and mix it up in your kitchen?

Islands: The move towards larger, open plan kitchens has led to a surge in the popularity of islands. When space isn’t an issue, why not create a centre of your kitchen and add an island?

So, if you are spending a bit more time at home and would love a change, contact us today. Our team at Torbitts would be happy to help.
