Decorating your Kitchen for Christmas

This Christmas, why not give the heart of your home the festive cheer it deserves? While you’re busy adorning your front door with wreaths, your hallway with tinsel and your living room with lights, sometimes the kitchen can fall to the bottom of the list. But why? So much time at Christmas is spent in the kitchen; preparing dinner, hosting and pouring drinks! Here at Torbitts, we have a few tips for decorating your kitchen this Christmas.

Tiered tray with Christmas goodies

Find a tiered tray, afternoon tea style, and cover it with Christmas treats. Candy canes, gingerbread men and festive mugs will be perfect. The pop of colour will brighten the kitchen and have you in the Christmas spirit in no time!

Poinsettias

This is one of our favourite Christmas plants. Poinsettias are indigenous to Mexico and Central America but are used all around the world for festive plant displays. Sometimes, the shape of the leaves are thought of as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus. Dotting a few of these vibrant plants around the kitchen will make it eye catching and warm looking. Give it a go!

Mini Christmas Tree

If you have a kitchen island (we install these, just sayin’!), popping a mini Christmas tree on one of the stools can be a lovely touch. Putting some of your favourite decorations and warm toned or coloured lights onto it could be just what your kitchen needs.

Christmas mugs and plates

Surely you have that ancient Christmas mug you can’t bear to throw out? Why not display it this year? We can install open kitchen shelving, for you to display your gorgeous pieces of crockery. Contact us today. Grab a few green plates and pop your mug on top to make the most wholesome little festive display. Be as authentic as possible when decorating your kitchen this Christmas.

Wreaths on Kitchen Cabinets

If you have a country style kitchen with light coloured cabinets, a pop of colour from a wreath could be just what you’re looking for. Hanging mini wreaths with ribbon to each door will look gorgeous and tie in with the other decorations! And don’t forget, we have lots of country kitchen designs available. Contact us today.

There are so many things to consider when decorating your kitchen this Christmas. With a little bit of preplanning the heart of your home will be buzzing with festive cheer in no time.
